Using Color Effectively in Marketing Materials

Did you know that the use of color can evoke certain emotions from individuals? It’s been scientifically proven, that color has an effect on how the brain processes information. As a result, smart marketers are taking this into consideration when developing promotional materials. Are you using color effectively?

Here’s a breakdown of colors and their general associations:

Red – Power, rage, love, passion. When looking at this color, it’s been found that a human’s heart rate will increase slightly.

Blue — This color can cause humans to release chemicals that create a calm sensation in the body. Also, associated with cold, sadness, loyalty.

Orange — Warm, energetic, fun, happy.

Green — Peace, calming, greed, jealousy, money, growth.

Yellow — Cheerful, carefree, optimistic.

Pink — Feminine, soft, delicate. Because of pink’s calming attributes, it’s often the paint color chosen for the inside of jail cells.

Black — Dominance, elegance, classic, evil, power, authority.

Gray — Sadness, depression, plain.

White — Pure, sterile, clean.

Purple — Regal, leadership, wealth, wisdom.

Brown — Nature, stability, loyalty, dirty.
